Accreditation

The Angolan Ministry of Education licenses the American Schools of Angola.

 

ASA is accredited by CogniaTM, a globally recognized nonprofit that evaluates schools against rigorous standards of educational quality. This accreditation assures that we meet the highest expectations for teaching, learning, and continuous improvement. Accreditation confirms that ASA possesses the resources, policies, and practices to achieve its educational goals and provided evidence of the quality of its educational programs comforming to the highest international standards.

Cognia bestows the recognition and authority of three of the U.S. regional accrediting agencies, the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). The three listed U.S. regional agencies provide ASA with a highly regarded accreditation that is recognized by the Department of Education of the U.S. federal government, and is in fact three of the most prestigious commissions in the North American continent and the world. 

In our 2026 CogniaTM Engagement Review, ASA received top scores Exceeding Cognia´s Expectations on all areas including in the category of Student Performance Analysis, Learning Environments Analysis, Culture of Learning, Leadership for Learning, Engagement of Learning, Growth in Learning — a proud distinction.

ASA is a proud member of The National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) who works to ensure that university courses offered by high school teachers are as rigorous as courses offered on the sponsoring university campus. As the sole accrediting body for concurrent enrollment partnerships, NACEP helps these programs adhere to the highest standards so students experience a seamless transition to university and teachers benefit from meaningful, ongoing professional development.

NACEP is the sole accrediting body for high school–university concurrent enrollment programs in the United States.
